SEVENOAKS LADIES 8 – MOTE PARK 2 (86 SHOTS FOR, 77 AGAINST)
What a fantastic start to the Kent League season. Despite two late withdrawals, Jenny Barnes and Sally Garvey were at the ready to step into the breach. The ladies, sporting their new team shirts generously supplied by Martin Hammond and his MB Motors company, were quickly off the mark and took an early lead which they maintained throughout. This was the first KL game played under the new rule of only 18 ends rather than 21 as previously, and five rinks rather than 6. After 15 ends, Sevenoaks were leading by 21 shots overall (74-53) and despite a belated effort from Mote Park to close the gap, the home team reached the winning post by 87 shots to 77. Sevenoaks were successful on three of the five rinks. Dot Fuller, Jeanette Kisnorbo, Eve Strudwick and Brenda Bennett had one of those days when almost everything went right, romping home 23-13. Marian Greenouff, Sally Garvey, Joy-Ann Hemmings and Anne Welch had an equally successful game, winning 20-14. The third win came from Jenny Barnes, Jessie Thomson, Rosemary Tuck and Sue Wallis 16-14. Skip Joan Moffat only lost by a single shot, and Ann Munro by 6 shots, so all round a brilliant team performance,
Brenda
