Sevenoaks Ladies 10 swale 6
96 shots to 92
What a game, near the end the electronic scoreboard showed 88-86 advantage to Sevenoaks and happily we just edged ahead in the tense final moments for a four shot victory and the valuable four points that go with winning on overall shots.
In addition we shared success on the rinks, with three wins apiece. Skip Joan Moffat, Captain Lynn Thomson and lead Jackie Smith were the stars of the day opening up a 20-2 lead after ten ends which was encouraging to see from the Sevenoaks point of view. They ended up comfortable victors 27-15.
Joyce Allen, Maureen Charles and Ann Munro led 18-8 after 13 ends and were always in control as they went on to win 21-14.
Dot Fuller, Brenda Bennett and Anne Welch were cruising along nicely with a 12-2 lead after 8 ends, but then lost five ends on the trot enabling the Swale ladies to take a 12-14 lead. Fortunately they rallied to within one shot, 15-16, going into the final end. With a back toucher from Dot and a close bowl from Brenda, the opposing skip was unable to dislodge either allowing Sevenoaks to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat 17-16!
Well done to the other three rinks, although losing, every shot was valuable in this very close encounter.
