Sevenoaks IBC v The Royals IBC . Ladies Kent League. Sunday 8th January

THE ROYALS 2 SEVENOAKS 8

The ladies made an encouraging start to the new year with victory at The Royals.   Winning on two of the five rinks, together with an overall ten shots advantage, gave Sevenoaks a very welcome 7 points.

Dot Fuller, Jeannette Kisnorbo, Joan Moffat and Brenda Bennett quickly adapted to the away green and all four contributed to a well earned 32-8 success.

Sylvia Crabb, Diana Purssell, Shirley Christian and Sue Wallis maintained the initiative throughout their game, getting home convincingly 22-8.

Skip Anne Welch looked like leading her team to a win when they were 13-7 ahead with five ends to go, but unfortunately they failed to take another end, dropping 12 shots in the process.

With every shot counting, praise is due to Marian Greenouff, Linda George, Avril Moss and Rosemary Tuck who trailed 4-20 but managed to win five out of the final six ends to reach a
respectable 11-21.

This was a first Kent League appearance for Sylvie Crabb and Sue Hogg, a winning one for Sylvie but not Sue.  Both performed well on their debut and hopefully will be putting their names down again.
