SKILLS DAY : FRIDAY 18th NOVEMBER

This is an opportunity for the less experienced bowler to have fun, learn and improve your game with the help of six Kent coaches.  Previous Skills Day at Sevenoaks IBC have proved popular so book early as only 20 places are available.

The day will cost £12 and include a buffet lunch.   9.45 a.m – 4 p.m

What will happen:   You will be videoed, learn about head building and how to read a head, purposeful practice, measuring with the correct tools and a session using odd equipment to challenge your skills.

Each session lasts 45 minutes, a buffet lunch will be provided between 1-2 p.m. and the day will end with a roundup and chat.

The booking form will be at the Club during Monday morning.

I am sure you will find this an interesting and worthwhile experience.

SEVENOAKS IBC v MOTE PARK IBC. Ladies KL. Wednesday 26th Oct.

SEVENOAKS LADIES 8 – MOTE PARK 2 (86 SHOTS FOR, 77 AGAINST)

What a fantastic start to the Kent League season.   Despite two late withdrawals, Jenny Barnes and Sally Garvey were at the ready to step into the breach.   The ladies, sporting their new team shirts generously supplied by Martin Hammond and his MB Motors company, were quickly off the mark and took an early lead which they maintained throughout.   This was the first KL game played under the new rule of only 18 ends rather than 21 as previously, and five rinks rather than 6.   After 15 ends, Sevenoaks were leading by 21 shots overall (74-53) and despite a belated effort from Mote Park to close the gap, the home team reached the winning post by 87 shots to 77. Sevenoaks were successful on three of the five rinks.   Dot Fuller, Jeanette Kisnorbo, Eve Strudwick and Brenda Bennett had one of those days when almost everything went right, romping home 23-13.  Marian Greenouff, Sally Garvey, Joy-Ann Hemmings and Anne Welch had an equally successful game, winning 20-14.  The third win came from Jenny Barnes, Jessie Thomson, Rosemary Tuck and Sue Wallis 16-14.   Skip Joan Moffat only lost by a single shot, and Ann Munro by 6 shots, so all round a brilliant team performance,

Brenda

Sevenoaks IBC v Swale IBC. Friendly. Saturday 14 May 2022

Following our victory over Sevenoaks Outdoor Club last weekend Sevenoaks Indoor Bowls managed to secure another victory at home against old foes Swale IBC, winning by 3 rinks to 2, 84 – 67.

Although we did start with 6 rinks Gerald Hemmings had a nasty fall and was unable to continue resulting in that game being abandoned – when Sevenoaks were well ahead.  Thankfully Gerald is fine although he did spend several hours at Farnborough Hospital before being patched up – thanks to Dave Fleming for chauffeuring him around.

Here’s hoping that we can continue to field a full team at future home and away friendly matches.

Sevenoaks IBC v Stone Lodge IBC. Ladies. Wednesday 6th April

DARTFORD STONE LODGE 10 SEVENOAKS 0
69 shots to 55 on four rinks.

A four-rink match was agreed and Captain Lynn had four rinks at the ready until the day before when Mary Gardiner and Mary Lapsley fell by the wayside with the dreaded Covid.  Despite her best efforts, Lynn could not find two more willing ladies to join us so DSL were quite happy that we turned up with 2 rinks and 2 triples.   Although all four games were lost, they were all close  with no rink losing by more than five shots.  The game was played, we had a pleasant afternoon and a tasty meal.

For the full story of this eventful afternoon, you will need to read the May edition of Wickers World.
