Sevenoaks IBC v Angel IBC. Ladies KL. Wednesday 15th February

Angel IBC 10 v Sevenoaks IBC Ladies 0
109 shots to 52

Just one of those days, a very tough away match.

Captain of the day, Ann Munro, along with Joy-Ann Hemmings, Diana Purssell and Diane Wills performed well only going down 11-14.
Sue Wallis, Sally Garvey, Barbara Taylor and Marian Greenouff stayed in the hunt, and also narrowly lost by a three shot margin, 15-18.
The other three rinks suffered heavy defeats.

SEVENOAKS IBC v SWALE IBC. Ladies KL. Wednesday 8th February

Wednesday 8th February
SEVENOAKS LADIES 2 SWALE 8
72 shots to 90

A tough match but it contained two very good examples of never give up and fight to the end.

After leading 10-9 at 12 ends, Dot Fuller, Dianna Purssell, Joan Moffat and Ann Munro then lost three ends on the trot to go 10-12 down with three ends to play.  Did the opposition switch off with the end in sight?  Who knows, but Sevenoaks ladies maintained their focus and notched up 5 – 3 – 4 shots on the final three ends to win 22-12.  Brilliant!

Not quite so spectacular, but equally pleasing. Marian Greenouff, Val Stevens, Lynn Thomson and Brenda Bennett had been narrowly in arrears up to the 14th end with the score at 11-14.  A fine burst of scoring, 2 – 3 – 2 shots saw them take an unexpected lead and a final winning score of 18-15.

SEVENOAKS IBC v OYSTER IBC. Ladies KL. Wednesday 1st February

Sevenoaks Ladies 8 Oyster 2
87 shots to 77

Another famous victory for the ladies and a very rare success over the strong Oyster Club.    Four ladies withdrew from the original team – with good reason.  Fortunately there were two named reserves who came into the side and it only took three phone calls to find two more willing ladies to step into the breach and save the day.

Sevenoaks were successful on three of the five rinks.  Captain of the day, Brenda Bennett, along with Dot Fuller, Anne Farley and Jane Taylor achieved a convincing 28-12 win against the Oyster captain’s rink thanks to a fine burst of scoring after the mid-way cup of tea.   Linda George, Mel Bridges, Joy-Ann Hemmings and skip Anne Welch won 12 of the 18 ends for their satisfying 19-12 victory.

Shirley Christian, Sylvie Crabb, Mary Gardner and Joan Moffat trailed 2-7 after 7 after six ends and eventually levelled the scores on the 14th end at 11-11.   On the 18th and final end, with a 14-14 scoreline, skip Joan confidently bowled her first bowl right up to the jack, shot wood!  It could not be bettered, another win for Sevenoaks.

Skips Sue Wallis and Ann Monro both lost by a modest amount of shots which were easily covered by the three winning rinks.   Anne Brinkley made her Kent League debut and enjoyed the experience, we hope to see her name down again.

Captain of the Day

Sevenoaks IBC v Holmsdale IBC. F. 24th of February.

Match against a very strong Holmesdale team that, included some of our experienced players, was played on the 24th of February.
Really good match with Sevenoaks trailing by halfway.
After a cup of tea and a team talk (nothing added to the oppositions tea)
The Sevenoaks team surged ahead winning 7 of the 8 rinks and with a score of 159 to 103.
The game was played and the atmosphere was friendly and jovial.
The wonderful meal had by all and Holmsdale players that also play here were reminded not to try and play for Sevenoaks in next year’s fixture.
Winning Highest rink Miles Walker  Murry Browm and Lyn Thompson without a p.
A great thank you to all who took part, especially all the newest members.

Sevenoaks IBC v Bromley Town. Ladies Kent League. Saturday 21st January

Sevenoaks 1 Bromley 9
60 shots to 101

After two consecutive wins, we came a bit of a cropper at home to Bromley last weekend.

Pam Stanley, Jeannette Kisnorbo, Avril Moss and Brenda Bennett all contributed well in their 17-12 success for the lone point.

Skips Sue Wallis and Jane Taylor kept their teams in the hunt, only going down narrowly by 3 shots and 5 shots respectively.  The other two skips, who shall remain nameless, suffered rather heavy losses.

Sevenoaks IBC v Ashford IBC. Valanndor Trophy. Monday 23rd January

Sevenoaks 1 Ashford 3
71 shots to 105

In this four rink Kent competition, Sevenoaks came up against the strong Ashford club.   The two away rinks struggled on the fast Ashford green while at Sevenoaks the games were more competitive.

Dot Fuller, Rosemary Tuck, Jane Taylor and Brenda Bennett were all on good form, saving a white wash, with their 27-12 victory.

Sevenoaks IBC v White Oaks IBC. Ladies Kent League. Saturday 14th January

Saturday 14th January
WHITE OAK 3 SEVENOAKS 7
77 shots to 81.

The Ladies have done it again, a second consecutive 7-3 victory!

White Oak had a new carpet put down a while ago and this took some adjusting to for the Sevenoaks ladies.

Performance of the day came from Sally Burton, Dianne Wills, Joy-Ann Hemmings and Ann Munro who romped home 27-7.  Always ahead and leading 16-7,  they won the last five ends notching up ten shots in the process.   This valuable win helped cancel out the 9-27 loss suffered by Jane Taylor’s foursome.  Marian Greenouff, Jessie Thompson, Lynn Thomson and Anne Welch’s 21-11 success also played a big part in the Sevenoaks victory.

Sue Wallis and her ladies went down by four shots 15-19 as did Brenda Bennett’s rink, only their score was 9-13.  This was the Captain’s rink, Rosemary Tuck being the Sevenoaks captain of the day, with Dot Fuller and Diana Purssell making up the side.  Although they were always in arrears, on fourteen of the eighteen ends only one shot was scored, which indicates the closeness of the game.
