A challenging afternoon on the quick rink at Ashford and especially for the team playing on the end rink.
Nevertheless, there was one star performance which came from Linda George, Val Stevens, Lynn Thomson and skip Joan Moffat. After 12 ends, the foursome trailed 6-14 but they managed a sprint finish winning four of the next five ends to go into the 18th and final end one shot adrift, 14-15.
Not for the first time this season, Joan drew her final bowl next to the jack which the opposition skip could not shift. A well earned draw and a solitary half point.
It so nearly could have been more. Barbara Taylor, Joy-Ann Hemmings, Marian Greenouff and Sue Wallis (the latter two being joint captains of the day) went into their final end all square 14-14, but sadly dropped a further two shots.
