Sevenoaks Ladies 1/2 Prince Arthur 9 1/2
69 shots to 106
We try our hardest and do our best, in fact we were close to scoring 2 points today but in the end, it was only a half point,
Marian Greenouff, Diana Purssell, Eve Strudwick and Captain of the Day Ann Munro had a ding dong battle with the opposing Captain’s team. At the 10 end tea break, the home team held a narrow 10-9 lead, then added a further four shots on the next end. Prince Arthur responded with devastating effect scoring 5-1-5 on the next three ends to go into the lead 20-14. Great credit to the Sevenoaks ladies who came back strongly scoring 4-1-2 to go ahead 21-20 with one end remaining.
Sevenoaks were holding four shots when the two skips went to bowl. Unfortunately the visiting skip produced an excellent wood to draw the shot which could not be bettered – honours even at 21-21.
Dianne Wills, Mel Bridges, Lynn Thomson and Sue Wallis recovered from a 7-12 deficit to lead 15-13 with two ends to play. Prince Arthur fought back to level the scores and in a tight finish found the winning bowl to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat 20-21.
